Being a leader needs a lot of specification and qualification in manners , for example, leadership, entrepreneurship and charisma. Many people that want to be a leader just learn the leadership and entrepreneurship factor, but don't know anything about charisma. In fact, charisma is one of the most important thing required to be a good leader, what is charisma? Charisma is a manner of a person that radiates positive energy to their surrounding so people will like and admire them, but still assertive and intimidating. Charisma frequently related to be a gentleman's manner, yes, charisma is not just for leaders, a gentleman should have charisma too. Example of well known people that have charisma are Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, George Washington, and many more. Now, how to gain your charisma? this may be sound easy , but actually you need years and years to gain your charisma, these are the tips:
1. Eye contact
One of the most simple thing in growing your charismatic image, look at the eyes of the person you talk to calmly, don't look too serious because it may considered as a challenge by your interlocutor. Eye contact has to be applied to everybody without holding your back, if you face an intimidating person, bigger or older than you, don't be afraid! Eye contact will declare your bravery and maturity. You also need eye contact with your female interlocutor, men oftenly turn away when talking with women, unfortunately for those kind of guys, women consider a man that talks with eye contact is an alpha male and not a coward.
2. Keep your emotions low
Everybody know that anger is not a charismatic manners, instead, anger would give you a childish image. If you feel annoyed in an argument, angry, maintain your rage, don't let anger control yourself, harsh words will not make you win, instead, increase the quality of your argument, use formal, mature words and go deep into the problem so your opponent will be intimidated, if your opponent show their rage, you're already won. But in charisma context, anger is not the only emotion that you have to keep low, other emotions either, like excitement, or sorrow. A person that showing too much emotion look so childish, so? Control your emotion.
3. Skill mastery
A charismatic person is a person with knowledge and look like know everything, not a smart ass, but really have the knowledge. When you already talking with eye contact, and you maintain your emotions low, but you oftenly saying "i don't know (idk)" or "i can't", your image is still going to be bad. Master some skills that will be usefull for you. For clear information about skill mastery, you can read it in our other article.
4. Clothes
First impression is everything, first impression not begin with your handshake nor your first words, but from your clothes, with nice clothing, the chance of a person would want to know you is bigger. a person that respect his/herself is always dressed well. You can't go to party with inappropriate clothes, people will not consider you as a charismatic person, instead people will not paying any attention to you. Respect yourself with appropriate clothing, not too excesive but neither inapropriate.
5. Ego
Final step you have to conquer in improving your charisma, and also the hardest step. You have to control your ego, a "boss" likes to tell stories about him/her to make themselves look good, even if they have to make other people look bad. But a charismatic "leader" will share stories with you, work with you and will not make yourself look bad but instead he/she will praise you. Sounds noble right? Being intimidating and charismatic are not gained by vilifying others, but with positive manners that make people want to be like you
